Our Story: Honoring a Legacy in Greek Aviation
GreekAirports.gr was born from the vision and passion of George Hatzipanagos, a pioneer in Greek aviation information. George was born in Athens, Greece, in 1954 and began his career as an electronic engineer with the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (H.C.A.A.) in 1985. Driven by a deep love for his work, he started GreekAirports.gr in the mid-90s as a personal project, gathering and sharing valuable information about Greek airports.
Working on the website in his free time, George’s goal was to shine a light on the often-overlooked heroes behind the scenes of airport operations. His passion was not just for the technology and logistics but also for the people who make air travel possible. He was devoted to presenting the importance of these back-end heroes to the world, sharing their stories and contributions.
Tragically, George passed away in 2021, but even in his final days, his thoughts were with the airports he loved so much. Today, GreekAirports.gr has been brought back online in his memory, led by his son, Anastasios Chatzipanagos, who is dedicated to continuing his father's vision.
