Fraport Group, the world's leading airport operator, has reported a net profit of €357.0 million for the first nine months of 2023, exceeding pre-pandemic 2019 levels. The strong performance was driven by a recovery in passenger traffic across the Group's airports, as well as record-high revenue and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) in the third quarter.
Fraport's flagship airport, Frankfurt Airport (FRA), saw a 23.9% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic in the first nine months of 2023, reaching 86% of 2019 levels. This was driven by strong demand from travelers from Germany and other European countries, as well as North America and Asia.
Fraport's other airports, including Antalya Airport, Lima Airport, and Thessaloniki Airport, also saw significant increases in passenger traffic in the first nine months of 2023. As a result, the Group's total passenger traffic reached 74.3 million passengers, up 20.5% year-on-year.
Fraport's revenue for the first nine months of 2023 reached €2.63 billion, up 19.9% year-on-year. This was driven by growth in all revenue streams, including aviation, retail, and real estate.
Fraport's EBITDA for the first nine months of 2023 reached €959.5 million, up 15.8% year-on-year. This strong performance was due to a combination of revenue growth and cost control measures.
Fraport CEO Stefan Schulte commented on the results:
"We are pleased to report that Fraport Group has exceeded pre-pandemic levels in the first nine months of 2023. This strong performance is a testament to the resilience of our business and the hard work of our employees. We are confident that the recovery in passenger traffic will continue in the coming months and that Fraport Group is well-positioned to capitalize on this growth."
