Newcastle International Airport proudly announced the arrival of AEGEAN Airlines on June 14, 2023, marking the airline's first direct flight from the North East of England to Athens, Greece. AEGEAN, the largest Greek airline and a recipient of the prestigious 'Best Regional Airline in Europe' award for 11 consecutive years at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, will now operate direct flights between Newcastle and Athens every Wednesday and Sunday.
